About Manor

The mission

Manor™ exists to make home maintenance more satisfying and less stressful. Your home is likely your biggest asset, and you should know what to do with it—and when to do it. Manor brings clarity and structure to homeownership.

Manor's values

Simplicity. Homeownership is complicated enough. Manor should make things clearer, not add another layer of complexity.

Privacy. Your home is personal. We collect only what's necessary to provide the service, and we never sell your data.

Craftsmanship. Good homes are built with care and attention to detail. We believe software should be too.

Transparency. We're open about how Manor works and how we handle your data. If you have a question, we'll give you a clear answer.

Longevity. Manor is designed as a long-term tool, not a growth-at-all-costs startup. We’re building something sustainable, designed to last for decades—not funding cycles.

A note from our founder

Welcome to Manor! I'm John—a software engineer, homeowner, and lifelong DIYer. I grew up with a handy dad, and somewhere along the way I became one myself. I still watch This Old House, read Fine Homebuilding, and spend much of my free time on carpentry and home improvement projects.

When I bought my first home, I quickly realized I had this big, expensive thing to maintain—but no clear sense of what to focus on or when. I tried to stay organized using a patchwork of tools: Asana for tracking tasks, Dropbox for documents, email threads for contractor quotes, and various note apps for everything else. It worked, but nothing was integrated. I kept running into the same frustrations: hunting for manuals when something broke, guessing which maintenance tasks actually mattered, and struggling to share information with my family.

I built Manor because I wanted something better. I wanted a single place to manage everything about my home—designed specifically for homes, not repurposed from software I used in my day job.

Today I own a home and a rental property, and I use Manor to manage both. I'm building this through Still Forest, my indie software studio. It’s a labor of love, built by someone who genuinely cares about homeownership and maintenance.

I hope you'll find it as useful as I do.
